The large lattice knit design is inspired by the wooden frame used to construct traditional felt-covered Mongolian homes known as gers. The lattice frame is constructed of thin wood slats that are held together by leather or sinew. This frames support the long spokes that rise and converge in the center of the ger to form the roof, both of which are then wrapped in thick felt to protect against the bone chilling winter cold.
